A Legacy of Excellence in Education
Al Ameen Dr Mumtaz Ahmed Khan PU College was established on 22 August 1988 in Kolar, Karnataka, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan. The college is affiliated to the Pre-University Board of Karnataka and has been a cornerstone of quality education in the Kolar district.
With a commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development, Al Ameen PU College has nurtured thousands of students over its 36-year journey, guiding them toward successful careers in commerce, arts, civil services, and beyond.
The Visionary Behind AL-Ameen
AL-Ameen Educational Society was founded by Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, a distinguished educator and philanthropist who dedicated his life to transforming society through education. With a profound vision of providing quality education that balances academic excellence with moral values, Dr. Khan established the AL-Ameen Educational Society in 1966, which later expanded to include AL-Ameen Residential School in 1984.
Born on September 5, 1935, Dr. Khan began his career as a professor of Mechanical Engineering at UVCE, Bangalore. His passion for education led him to resign from his secure government position to establish educational institutions that would serve communities regardless of caste, creed, or religion, with special emphasis on uplifting underprivileged sections of society.
- Pioneer in minority education who established over 200 educational institutions across Karnataka
- Created educational opportunities for thousands of underprivileged students through scholarships and accessible education
- Recipient of numerous awards including the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for his contributions to education
- Transformed AL-Ameen from a small initiative to a vast educational network including schools, colleges, and professional institutions
- Known as "Sir Syed of Karnataka" for his tireless work in educational reform and community development
